| "Making Wise Decisions" in a tough world! |
| Teenagers and pre-teens are faced with hard choices that deal with sex, drugs, and alcohol, which can be life altering influences. By teaching how to step back and look at the big picture before making decisions dealing with these issues, a young person can learn to make "life-saving" instead of "life-altering" decisions. I cover big picture issues like, "Where do you see yourself in ten years?" We look at what choices they are making now that will enhance or detract from those dreams and ambitions. I give them real life incidents where real people have made one bad decision about drugs, alcohol, sex, or choice of friends, which caused a chain reaction that altered their lives forever and for the worse. I will also deal with what they can do if poor decision making has already caused trouble and how to begin to reverse it by making clearer decisions from this point on. Most students will find they are capable of making a better life by making better decisions. I believe in letting students know it is up to them, not society, their family, or environment how their life goes. They can make their lives better if they will take responsibility for their own decisions and not succumb to pier pressure or the trap that the blame game can lead them to. Success is a big word that means more than how much money you have or how famous and powerful the world says you are. It comes from within. We just have to learn how to let it out. We can only do this if we make "life-saving" decisions not "life-altering" ones. |
